The European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO), funds relief operations for victims of natural disasters and conflicts outside the European Union. For humanitarian aid, the Commission works with about 200 operational partners, including United Nation agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent movement and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Aid is channelled impartially, straight to victims, regardless of their race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality or political affiliation.
The ECHO RO Amman is seeking to recruit a National Staff to be based in Amman for programme assistant position (Reference: PA 2015-12):
As a part of the Jordan country team, a small but dynamic team, the Programme Assistant to Jordan will carry out activities such as:
· Situation analysis and assessments related to humanitarian
· Analysis of DG ECHO-partners’ project proposals
· Monitoring, evaluation and coordination of ECHO-funded projects
· Reporting and programme administration
· Assisting in all programme related activities of DG ECHO
· Liaising with partners in an advisory capacity, local authority and institutions
· Actively participate in meetings
· Act as reference person for information systems, including data collection, collation, management and analysis
The candidates for these 2 positions need to demonstrate the following criteria:
· Proof of higher education. University degree from a recognized university or equivalent professional experience.
· Minimum three years of relevant experience at national or international level in supporting programme/project operations, preferable including at least Two years of experience with an NGO's, donor or national/international organisation;
· Good understanding of Humanitarian Aid principles, policies and standards;
· Ability to travel on regular project monitoring visits or to respond to an emergency in unsecure settings, when needed
· Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment
· Excellent knowledge of Arabic and English and ability to communicate and draft reports in both languages;
· Good knowledge of any other European languages is an asset
· Proficiency in Computer application (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
· Experience in developing and managing databases
· Good mapping/ graphic skills
· Good knowledge of Programme Cycle Management (PCM) or experience in project management
· Ability to work in the field with implementing partners and to communicate with beneficiaries.
· Ability to work under pressure, autonomy, initiative, and to set-up priorities.
The position is open to all nationals of Jordan and other residents holding a valid working permit or able to obtain such working permit before the foreseen recruitment.
